AI-Powered Publishing · San Francisco

Publish Smarter.
Keep More.

Bayline Press is an independent publishing house built for a new era. We use AI to collapse traditional timelines, eliminate gatekeepers, and put authors back in control with higher royalties and a faster path from manuscript to market.

Publishing, Reimagined

Traditional publishing is slow, opaque, and takes most of your money. We built something better.

AI-Accelerated Workflow

From manuscript to published book in months, not years. AI handles editing support, formatting, cover concepts, and metadata so you focus on writing.

💰

Higher Royalties

You did the work and you keep the earnings. Our model eliminates the bloated overhead of traditional publishers and passes the savings to authors.

🚀

You Stay in Control

Your book, your vision, your timeline. We provide the tools, infrastructure, and guidance. You make the decisions.

📚

Two Genres, One Press

Whether it’s a practical guide to generative AI or a children’s picture book, Bayline Press helps authors across genres bring their vision to life.

Traditional Publishing

12–24 month timelines
10–15% royalties
Publisher controls your rights
Gatekeepers decide your fate
Opaque process, little communication

Bayline Press

Months to publication
Up to 40% royalties
Authors retain their rights
Open to aspiring authors
Transparent, collaborative process

We’ve Been Where You Are

We pitched manuscripts, chased agents, and waited months for responses that never came. We know the math. Some estimates put the acceptance rate for unsolicited children’s book manuscripts below 1%. You have better odds with a lottery ticket.

The children’s book world told us the same thing it tells most writers: unless you’re a celebrity, don’t expect a callback. The technical publishing world had its own version. We signed with a traditional publisher and watched three months vanish before the editor even engaged. Midway through, they asked us to rewrite the entire manuscript; not because readers needed it, but because their internal roadmap changed. The royalty split didn’t reflect who actually wrote the book.

Every author we talk to has a version of this story.

What changed: AI addressed the expensive, time-consuming parts of publishing: editing support, formatting, illustration concepts, cover design, and metadata; by making it fast and affordable. The old model needed layers of overhead to justify itself. That overhead kept royalties low and timelines long. Remove it, and the equation flips.

Authors do the real work. Authors should get the real upside. That is why Bayline Press exists; not because traditional publishing is broken for everyone, but because it doesn’t work for most writers, and now there is a better path.

About Bayline Press

Our Mission

Bayline Press exists because good books shouldn’t die in someone’s inbox.

The traditional model asks authors to do the hardest part; write the book, and then hand every decision to people who have never met a single reader. We watched it happen from both sides. In children’s publishing, the doors stay closed unless you’re already a public figure. In technical publishing, timelines stretch past a year, rewrites get demanded for internal reasons, and royalty rates make you wonder why you bothered.

We built Bayline Press to work differently.

What We Publish: Practical books on AI and data analytics alongside children’s picture books. Good writing doesn’t belong in one lane.

How We Work: AI has collapsed the cost and timeline of editing support, layout, cover concepts, metadata, and formatting from months to weeks. That changes the math for authors completely. If the infrastructure is faster and cheaper, there is no justification for locking writers out of the process or taking the majority of the revenue.

What Authors Get: Speed, control, and earnings that reflect the work. No gatekeepers. No year-long wait for an answer. No royalty splits designed for someone else’s overhead.

We work with authors who want to move fast, keep ownership of their work, and put great books into the world without asking permission.

Why “Bayline”?

The name comes from the San Francisco Bay; the view from our home, where the waterline meets the horizon and possibility stretches out ahead.

The People Behind the Press

✍️
James Bryant
Founder

James works at the intersection of finance and technology, helping teams turn data into decisions through automation, reporting, and modern BI. He has built corporate treasury functions and led digital transformation initiatives at organizations including Salesforce and Stanford Health Care. James writes about practical analytics — how to move from messy requirements and raw data to reliable dashboards and repeatable workflows. His work focuses on using tools like Power BI, ChatGPT, and Copilot to speed up delivery while keeping accuracy and trust front and center. Outside of work, James is usually outdoors with his family — skiing near Lake Tahoe, training for a half marathon, watching his daughter Avery play volleyball, or trying to keep up with Meatball, the family’s mini Goldendoodle.

💡
Aloke Mukherjee
Co-Author, AI & Data Analytics

Aloke is a seasoned data scientist, software developer, and author with over a decade of experience in business architecture, digital transformation, and solutions architecture. His forte lies in harnessing programming and data science to fuel strategic decision-making and business expansion. Throughout his career, Aloke has led data-driven initiatives at organizations including Stanford Healthcare, Genentech, and EMC, where he built scalable software solutions and data architectures that boosted operational efficiency. A lifelong learner, Aloke is also a Certified Personal Trainer who coaches at his local Gold’s Gym, runs a community running club, and is passionate about wine and exploring new vineyards.

📚
Avery Bryant
Co-Author, Children’s Books

Avery is the youngest member of the Bayline Press team and co-creator of Meatball Stands Up — a children’s picture book inspired by the family’s real-life mini Goldendoodle. When she’s not writing, Avery plays club volleyball as a libero and has a growing interest in veterinary medicine. She brings an authentic, fresh perspective to storytelling that only a young creator can.
